Devils Sign Goaltender Jordan Parise


East Rutherford, NJ - July 14, 2006 - The New Jersey Devils signed goaltender Jordan Parise to his first professional contract.  The announcement was made by Devils CEO/President/ General Manager Lou Lamoriello.  As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.

Parise, 23, is the older brother of current Devils forward Zach Parise.  The 5-11, 190 lb. goaltender was born September 19, 1982 in Faribault, MN, and spent the past three seasons with the University of North Dakota (WCHA).  Parise’s career totals show 55 wins, 20 losses, and seven ties, with ten shutouts, and a 2.14 goals-against average in 83 games.  This past season, he reached career highs in games played (34), wins (24), and shutouts (6).  Parise completed his collegiate playing career as North Dakota’s all-time leader in goals-against average, while finishing second in victories and shutouts.  He was named to the 2006 NCAA West All-Tournament and WCHA Third All-Star Teams, as well as the 2005 and 2006 WCHA All-Academic Teams.  Jordan’s teammates at UND included Zach, as well as Devils’ prospect Travis Zajac.  The Fighting Sioux participated in the NCAA Frozen Four the past two seasons, reaching the NCAA Championship Game in 2005.  They also reached the WCHA Championship Game during two of the last three seasons, winning in 2005-06.
