Devils Sign New Agreement with Newark
Newark, NJ - Oct 30, 2006 - Mayor Cory A. Booker and New Jersey Devils Owner Jeffrey Vanderbeek announced a new agreement on the construction of the downtown arena, which will ease Newark’s financial burden in building the complex and create what the mayor called a “true public/private partnership between city and hockey team.”
“The Devils have agreed to additional terms that will benefit the residents and children of Newark,” Jeffrey Vanderbeek said. “We are excited to be moving forward in true partnership with the City to ensure the success of the Newark Arena as a world class sports and entertainment facility that will not only be a championship caliber home for the Devils, but a fantastic venue for concerts, family events, and the very best in professional and college sports.
“As the first arena to be built in the New York metropolitan area in over 25 years, the Newark Arena will provide patrons with unsurpassed amenities in what will be one of the most accessible arenas in the country.”
