Burns Inducted into QMJHL Hall of Fame
Burns helped lead the Devils to the 2003 Stanley Cup Championship.
newjerseydevils.com – Former Devils coach Pat Burns was to be inducted into the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Hall of Fame on Wednesday.
Currently a Special Assignments Scout with the Devils, Burns was the head coach of the Hull Olympiques for three seasons from 1984-87, and recording 111 wins.
In the 1985-86 season, Burns led Hull to a club-record 54 wins, including 22 straight at home before eventually winning the President’s Cup title.
Burns led the Devils to the 2003 Stanley Cup Championship, as New Jersey beat Anaheim in seven games to win the third title in franchise history.
He compiled an 89-53-22 (.610) record in two seasons with the Devils from 2002-2004, and remains the only coach in NHL history to have won the Jack Adams Award three times: 1988-89, 1992-93, and 1997-98.
