Mike Rupp celebrates the 2003 Stanley Cup Championship with Jamie Langenbrunner. JUNE 9, 2003: newjerseydevils.com – At 2:22 of the second period, a rookie named Mike Rupp gave the Devils all the offense they would need. On this day, four years ago, Rupp scored the Cup-winning goal in Game 7 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Final, as the Devils topped the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim 3-0 for their third Championship in nine seasons. Jeff Friesen rounded out the Devils' offense with a pair of goals, and Rupp added assists on both of Friesen's tallies. After Anaheim had extended the series with a 5-2 win in Game 6, Martin Brodeur rebounded to stop all 24 shots he faced in the series-deciding Game 7.
