With their second pick, 79th overall, of the 2007 Entry Draft, the Devils selected right wing Nick Palmieri.
The 6-2, 212-lb. native of Utica, N.Y., has spent the last two seasons with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League, finishing third in scoring in 2006-07 with 45 points in 56 games.
Palmieri is a tenacious, two-way player, according to the NHL's Central Scouting Report, and pursues the puck aggressively, creating offensive chances with his hard work.
Named the Otters' Rookie of the Year in 2005-06 after recording a 23-point campaign (13g-10 a), Palmieri has said he models his game after Colorado's Joe Sakic.
He points to winning a Bantam State Championship as one of the highlights of his hockey career.
