Three Devils Prospects Named to Team Russia Roster
Tulupov, 19, spent the 2006-07 season with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, posting eight goals and 20 assists for 28 points in 54 regular season games. He added a goal and an assist for two points in two postseason contests.
The 6-3, 220-lb. defenseman was selected with the Devils' third choice, 67th overall, in the 2006 Draft.
Vasyunov, 19, was taken with New Jersey's second pick, 58th overall, in the '06 Draft. The 6-0, 190-lb. left wing spent the '06-07 season with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (Rus.), and recorded two goals in six games for Team Russia at the 2006 World Junior Championship.
Zharkov, 19, was selected with the Devils' fourth pick, 77th overall, of the '06 Draft. Listed at 6-0, 185 lbs., the right wing scored four goals and two assists for six points in 48 games with CSKA Moscow in '06-07.
The trio will be led by former Devil forward Sergei Nemchinov, who was named head coach for Team Russia. Recently appointed Devils head coach Brent Sutter will be behind the bench for Team Canada.
The eight-game series gets underway on Aug. 27 with four games to be played in Russia, followed by four games in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Red Deer (Alberta), and concluding in Vancouver on Sept. 9.
