Devils Win Sunshine State Shootout on '15 to Remember'
newjerseydevils.com – The Devils found themselves in a two-goal hole, then Travis Zajac helped them claw their way out.
This week's "15 to Remember" on FOX Sports Net New York (Wednesday, 8 p.m.) takes fans back to March 24 for New Jersey's 4-3 shootout win over the Panthers at Florida's BankAtlantic Center.
Zajac recorded the deciding goal in the shootout as the Devils broke a three-game losing streak and won the season series against Florida for an eighth consecutive season.
Zach Parise and Florida's Ville Peltonen each scored in the first round of the shootout, but Nathan Horton failed on the Panthers' chance in the second round. Florida captain Olli Jokinen then fired wide on his club's final attempt.
New Jersey erased a 2-0 second-period deficit on a power-play goal from David Clarkson, and a pair of tallies from Jim Dowd.
Martin Brodeur picked up the win to match his own franchise record for wins in a season with 43. The Devils goaltender stopped 26 of 29 shots in regulation, two of three in the shootout, and added his first point of the season with an assist on Dowd's second goal.
The victory allowed the Devils to maintain their lead over Pittsburgh for first place in the Atlantic Division.
