NHL Store open for business in Manhattan

Devils fans took Manhattan by storm on Friday, when the NHL Powered by Reebok Store opened in midtown.

newjerseydevils.com –
The NHL Powered by Reebok Store is officially open for business.

Hundreds of hockey fans turned out for their first look at the brand new boutique, which hosted its grand opening on Friday.

Devils alumni Ken Daneyko and Bruce Driver were on hand signing autographs, and the Stanley Cup itself made an appearance. A line of people waiting to take a picture with the Cup snaked its way down Sixth Avenue as a billboard of Martin Brodeur looked out over the throng of hockey shoppers.

"This is just a great store for all the fans," Daneyko said. "It's been great to see so many of them come down, and they've all been cordial no matter who their team is."

Located on the corner of 47th Street and Avenue of the Americas, the 6,700 square-foot store boasts a truly unique centerpiece: an Rbk hockey stick sculpture constructed of over 400 sticks.

The sculpture hangs over the store's cash desk and includes flat-panel monitors airing game highlights and player interviews.

High-definition projection screens and monitors are positioned throughout the store, and a game station where visitors can enjoy the latest in NHL gaming make just about any trip to the store an interactive one.

And that's just the beginning.

XM Satellite Radio, the exclusive satellite radio network of the NHL, is planning to build an on-air studio for live broadcasts on NHL Home Ice (XM Channel 204), which is heard across the U.S. and Canada.

Also coming soon, an ice wall – made of real ice – will serve as a backdrop to special merchandise events or to future visits from Lord Stanley's Cup.
