Devils Chairman and Managing Partner Jeff Vanderbeek and Co-Owner Mike Gilfillan welcomed AmeriHealth New Jersey President and CEO Judy Roman and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mike Munoz for the ceremony, which took place outside the rink's entrance on the corner of Mulberry and Lafayette streets.
Devils' radio play-by-play announcer Matt Loughlin handled the emcee duties.
"AmeriHealth New Jersey is a part of what has been a tremendous revitalization of Newark," Vanderbeek said. "You will not know this city in five years, and you will have been a part of it from the beginning."
Vanderbeek noted progress being made with demolition around Prudential Center and presented Roman with a No. 1 Devils jersey customized with "AmeriHealth."
"We're very proud of our opportunity to be working with [the Devils,] not only because it does give us an opportunity for growth in the northern part of the state, but also because we're contributing to the revitalization of Newark," Roman said. "It has been a great opportunity to work with the Devils and Prudential Center."
AmeriHealth provides health care coverage to nearly 230,000 New Jersey residents. The company's contracted hospital and physician network includes thousands of physicians at 76 hospitals through its service area.
Less than 30 days remain until the Devils' home opener on Friday, Oct. 10, when the club hosts the New York Islanders.
