Cormier collected 609 PIMs over 183 games in the QMJHL.
newjerseydevils.com – The Devils have acquired forward Kevin Cormier from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for defenseman Sean Zimmerman.  The announcement was made by Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello.

Cormier, 22, will enter his second professional season after recording three goals and two assists for five points and 104 penalty minutes in 23 games with Arizona (CHL) in 2007-08.

The 6-3, 235-lb. forward played three seasons of junior hockey in the QMJHL, appearing in 183 games, and compiling 609 penalty minutes with Halifax, Rimouski, and Shawinigan.

Born January 27, 1986 in Moncton, N.B., Cormier was selected by Phoenix with its sixth choice, and 168th overall selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.  Kevin’s younger brother, Patrice, was selected by New Jersey with its third choice, 54th overall, in the 2008 draft.

Zimmerman, 21, is in his second professional season after splitting 2007-08 between Trenton (ECHL) and Lowell (AHL).
