Brodeur named NHL\'s Third Star of the week
newjerseydevils.com – Martin Brodeur has been named the NHL's Third Star for the week ending Oct. 12.

Brodeur joined Vancouver Canucks forward Daniel Sedin (First Star), Florida Panthers left wing David Booth (Second Star) as this week's honorees.

The Devils goaltender posted a 2-0-0 record with a 0.97 goals-against average and .951 save percentage as the Devils opened the season with a pair of 2-1 triumphs. He stopped 25 shots in the Devils’ home opener, a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Oct. 10.

The next night, he made 14 saves in a 2-1 overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The victories improved Brodeur’s career total to 540, pulling him within 11 of matching Patrick Roy’s NHL record.
