Murphy clears waivers; Lowell signs McAmmond

The Devils announced Tuesday that Lowell has signed forward Dean McAmmond to an AHL contract. Defenseman Cory Murphy cleared waivers and has been assigned to the Devils' affiliate.

McAmmond, 36, recorded five goals and 11 assists in 62 games split between the Senators and Islanders last season. The 5-11, 195-lb. native of Grand Cache, Alberta, has scored 178 goals and 253 assists for 431 points in 934 career games with Chicago, Edmonton, Philadelphia, Calgary, Colorado, St. Louis, Ottawa, and NY Islanders.

It will be McAmmond's second tour with the Devils organization. He previously signed with the club as a free agent on October 5, 2004, and collected 19 goals, 42 assists in 79 games with the Devils' Albany (AHL) affiliate in 2004-05.

The 16-year NHL veteran was selected 22nd overall by the Blackhawks in the 1991 Entry Draft.
