NJD Notes - 11.06 Quotes
Elias returns to face the Isles on Friday.
Patrik Elias makes his season debut tonight when the Devils host the Islanders. Jersey's Team will start backup netminder Yann Danis.

"It'll be exciting. Obviously, I'll be a little bit nervous. I just have to make sure I calm myself down and play a smart hockey game tonight."

-- Elias on returning to the lineup for the first time since September groin surgery

"I’d say he’s going to play from 17 to 19 minutes. He’ll have to play."

-- Head coach Jacques Lemaire on managing Elias' minutes tonight

"At this level, there’s always pressure. You’re never guaranteed anything; you always have to perform. But that’s what I want to do. I think the team has confidence in what I can do, and hopefully I can continue to do that tonight."

-- Danis on getting his second start of the season

"Obviously they gave me a chance to play, and I’m here right now probably because of that. I had a good time; great group of guys there and I have a lot of respect for those guys. But I’ve moved on. I’m here now and I’m looking to come up with a win tonight."

-- Danis on facing the Islanders, his former club

"From training camp to right now, he’s totally a different player. I’d say he’s a player that stands up until the start of the season. He’s good with the puck, makes good plays, he’s very calm on the ice. Doesn’t get rattled. He does everything good."

-- Lemaire on defenseman Andy Greene, who had 25:46 of ice time Wednesday vs. Caps

"Obviously you don’t like to see what happened to Paul and Johnny, but at the same time you have to be ready. We have to step up as a group and as a team. The defense as a whole has stepped up well. You just have to be ready. That’s all you can do is be ready for all situations."

-- Greene on stepping up following the injuries to Paul Martin and Johnny Oduya

"Just a great kid and a great player at his age. All that he does on the ice, he looks like he’s been in the League five years and settled down. He’s cool, doesn’t get excited, plays his game and has good talent. He’s going to be a good player – he is right now."

-- Lemaire on Isles' John Tavares, the first overall pick in 2009

"You know how good Marty is, and arguably the best goalie of all time. You want to play against the best and compete against the best but it doesn’t really matter which goalie is in there. You don’t want to change your mindset. You still want to go in and compete as hard as you would against Marty or against Yann tonight. It’s not going to change too much of our focus except maybe some things we can find on (Danis) that can hopefully work for us."

-- Tavares on facing Danis
