NJD Notes 12.18: Jamie salutes Marty\'s mark
The Devils host Ottawa tonight looking to go 4-1 on their five-game homestand. The team played well enough to edge Montreal, 2-1, on Wednesday, but will be looking for a more complete effort against the Senators, who are 4-5-1 in their last 10.

“First thing is, we have to get back to playing a good, solid game that we can be really happy with,” said captain Jamie Langenbrunner. “If we do that, that’s all you can ask for. Obviously, we’ve been getting some results, but we want to be playing a little bit better. We know we have two tough road games coming up after tonight, so you want to be playing some good hockey going into those situations.”

Martin Brodeur is likely to start tonight, and would pass Patrick Roy for the most games played by a goaltender with his 1,030th appearance. Brodeur tied Terry Sawchuk’s shutout mark (103) on Dec.  7, and eclipsed Roy on Nov. 27 for most minutes played (60,235).

“What can you say? It seems like every other week he’s breaking records, and it’s well-deserved,” Langenbrunner said. “It’s just another testament to his commitment to wanting to play every day, the consistency that he’s been able to have to play well, and the confidence the coaches have to keep playing him.”
