Bookstore Dance Party
A video summation of the trip to Vancouver thus far:

I'm sitting down at the computer with a seaweed salad and watching Team USA take a 3-0 lead over the Swiss in the first men's hockey game of the tournament.  It's only the second hockey game I haven't attended since I flew in Saturday morning.  (I won't be any noon games this week.  When else am I going to update the fans?)

I am stoked for the Canada vs. Norway game, if only to say I was there when the roof blew off Canada Hockey Place and landed somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.  It'll also be a treat to see Ilya Kovalchuk, Alexander Ovechkin and Pavel Datsyuk lead an explosive Russian offense against Latvia.

Random Notes from Vancouver:
• About an hour ago, the cashier at a drug store tried to scalp me her curling tickets.

• Last night, a friend and I caught a cab ride from the craziest driver ever... His actual driving ability was fine, but his mental disposition, not so much.  This isn't the forum to get into some of his more colorful... theories... but he did ask me to design a logo for an internaitonal biker gang he plans on starting.

• There seems to be plenty to do around the city during the day if you're not attending any events, but only if you have the patience to stand in a line for, oh, I don't know, the next week.  Robson's Square, comparable to Rockefeller Center with tourist traps and a public ice rink, boasts a zipline that spans about a 100 yards or so.  A security guard pointed out a spot midway through the line, and explained it was about a five hour wait from there. The line continued on, wrapping around the block.

• The folks here refer to credit cards as "chips," and it drives me crazy.  It took me nearly four months to realize my British roommate was talking about fries when he said "chips."  I don't know if I can handle another meaning for a word that should describe to nothing but thinly sliced, fried, barbecue cheddar potatoes.
