Martin Brodeur addresses Canada\'s defeat
Just off the Canada Hockey Place ice, Brodeur stopped to share his post-game thoughts with NHL.com.
Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils was given the important nod to tend Team Canada's goal against Team USA Sunday afternoon. Brodeur stopped a couple of breakaways but was beaten by New Jersey teammates present and former (Brian Rafalski twice and Jamie Langenbrunner for the game-winner) in the United States' 5-3 victory.
 
Just off the Canada Hockey Place ice, Brodeur stopped to share his post-game thoughts with NHL.com.
 
NHL.com: The Americans scored goals at pivotal moments -- first shift, 22 seconds after Team Canada scored to tie it. How difficult are those goals?
 
Brodeur: These were definitely momentum-changers. When you think you have the momentum, they go out and they score a goal and I think it deflates a bit the atmosphere of the building and the team also.

But we had our chances again and Miller was the big difference.

NHL.com: Both teams drove hard to the opposing net. Was the traffic in front a problem?

Team Canada GearBrodeur: The last one (Langenbrunner's power-play deflection), I didn't really see. I think Lipper was standing in front of me. They crashed the net. They went hard.

I had to make a couple of good saves on a couple of breakaways there to keep the game 3-2 late in the second. But after that we took three penalties.

NHL.com: Can Canada simply put this game behind it?

Brodeur: We’re going to have to. We’re going to have an extra game now to get to know each other better and start playing.

That’s definitely not the route we expected to have. But it is what it is and we’ll make the best out of it.
