Loss to Finland lands U.S. in relegation round
Team USA came up empty in the preliminary round of the 2010 World Championship in Germany.

They came up short to Finland, 3-2, on Wednesday, settling for a spot in the relegation round. David Moss and TJ Oshie scored for the U.S., which went winless in its first three games of the tournament, including overtime losses to Germany and Denmark.

Moss opened the scoring 3:30 into the game before Finland tied it in the second period. The Finns tacked on two more goals in the third to take a 3-1 lead. Oshie struck with 17 seconds left in regulation to bring the Americans back within one.

Former Devil netminder Scott Clemmensen made 40 saves and was named the U.S. Player of the Game. This year's tourney has marked the Team USA debut of Devils defenseman Andy Greene.

The U.S. finished last in Group D and will begin relegation-round play this Saturday against the last-place team from Group A.
