Devils re-sign David Clarkson

Clarkson, 26, will enter his fourth National Hockey League season in 2010-11 and his sixth year with the organization. He recorded 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points and 85 penalty minutes while appearing in 46 games last season. The 6-1, 200-lb. forward has career totals of 40 goals and 42 assists for 82 points and 438 penalty minutes in 216 games. Clarkson also has two goals and 25 penalty minutes in 20 career playoff contests. He made his NHL debut on March 15, 2007 and played in the NHL YoungStars Game the following season. Born March 31, 1984 in Toronto, Ont., he began his professional career by playing in 56 games with Albany (AHL) in 2005-06. Not drafted, Clarkson signed with New Jersey as a free agent on August 12, 2005. He played his junior hockey with Kitchener (OHL) and was a member of the Rangers’ 2003 Memorial Cup Championship team.
