NJD Notes
1st period: Vladimir Zharkov's tripping minor at 8:22 of the first offered a look at a potential PP unit. Ilya Kovalchuk set up at the left halfboards with Zach Parise between the circles and Travis Zajac down low. Brian Rolston manned the right point with Matt Taormina on the left side. The PP didn't score on Johan Hedberg, and allowed a shorthanded breakaway to Patrik Elias, who worked the PK with Jamie Langenbrunner. Martin Brodeur stopped Elias to protect the 1-0 lead from Tim Sestito's goal at 2:07.

Brodeur also made a nice point blank save on Langenbrunner with 6:27 to go in the frame.

2nd period: Jason Arnott ties it up, 1-1, for Red just 31 seconds into the period. Zach Parise had trouble controlling the puck in his own zone, and Patrick Elias knocked it away to set up Arnott, who snapped a shot through Brodeur from near the slot.

With 42 seconds left on a Matt Corrente minor penalty, Josefson capitalizes on a White team defensive zone miscue and scores shorthanded on Brodeur to make it 2-1 Red.

Midway through second, Urbom with a nice play at neutral to intercept Tedenby pass that would have sent McIntyre in alone on Hedberg.

Zubrus off with 7:25 left in second. White has used same top PP unit of Parise-Zajac-Kovy with Taormina-Rolston on blueline.

With 3:40 left, Magnan-Grenier knocks feet out from under Nilson. Red to the PP with Arnott line and Urbom and Andy Greene on the points. Josefson line comes out as second unit. Corrente and Tallinder on D. Zubrus sets up Clarkson in the slot for PPG with 1:57 left in second to make it 3-1 Red.

3rd: Jeff Frazee takes over in White net for Brodeur; Mike McKenna replaces Hedberg in goal for Red.

Arnott line starts for Red, Zajac line for White.

White ties the game at 3-3 with two early scores in the third. Kovalchuk snaps shot glove side on McKenna 46 seconds in to cut Red lead to 3-2. Rolston slapper beats McKenna from inside blue line to tie it, 3-3, for  White at 2:55.

Volchenkov puts heavy hip check on Josefson as he tries to sneak down the left boards with just over four minutes to go in third. McKenna nice glove save on Magnan-Grenier slapper with 3:27 to go.

Tied 3-3 at the end of 60 minutes of play. Going to a five-minute overtime period. Parise-Kovy start up front for White, Elias-Langenbrunner for Red. Second OT forward line for Red: Zubrus-Josefson. Zajac-Rolston for White. Third OT line for Red: Arnott-Clarkson. Tedenby-Vasyunov for White. Nilson-Mair get a shift for Red.

Vasyunov beats McKenna gloveside from outside the right circle at 2:53 to give White a 4-3 OT win in today's scrimmage. Tedenby was driving to the net for a rebound.
