Head coach John MacLean indicated Wednesday that he planned on taking parts of the morning's first group with him to face the Rangers on Thursday (7 p.m. ET, MSG Plus).

"Some of the guys, yeah," MacLean said. "Some of the guys are going to be in there. There'll be some changes, we have to leave ourselves open to that. Some of those guys are definitely going to be in the game tomorrow."

Those that didn't play in the preseason opener at Philadelphia took part in Wednesday's first session. The Devils dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Flyers in their preseason opener.
