"Not much more than you've been told," head coach John MacLean said when asked what he knew about Salvador's status. "We're still waiting for the tests."
That was echoed by team President/CEO/GM Lou Lamoriello.
"Until we get all the tests back, we have no comment," Lamoriello said.
Meanwhile, Volchenkov played it safe after getting hit by a shot.
"He took a shot off the foot in practice, so instead of pushing it – I expect him to be ready to play tomorrow – I just told him to go off and ride the bike," MacLean said.
The coach had yet to set his lineup for Friday, but said Brodeur will make his third start of the preseason. Hedberg could start Saturday at Long Island.
"We're going to play some of the lines that we've been playing together so far, but we're also going to get a look at some of the other guys in different spots still," he said. "Again, that's what training camp's for."
Devils worked on the man advantage with Arnott and Taormina at the points, Elias, Langenbrunner, Tedenby up front... Other units feature Josefson line with Greene and Corrente at points; Kovy line with Taormina and Rolston at the points.
