This is the first major injury for Parise, who scored 38 times last year to lead the Devils in goals for a fourth straight season. He made at least 81 appearances in each of his first five NHL campaigns.
Parise's knee collided with Kyle Clifford in the second period of Saturday's game at Los Angeles, and he did not play in the third. He had three goals, three assists in 12 games this year.
Parise set career highs of 45 goals and 94 points two years ago. He has collected 163 goals and 178 assists for 374 points in 419 career games. Last year, teammates voted Parise the Devils' MVP for the second straight time.
