Devils host Food Drive on Friday, Nov. 12
All fans attending the game are asked to bring unopened cans or boxes of non-perishable food. Requested items include canned fish/meat, powdered milk and infant formula, boxed/canned meals, peanut butter, and canned vegetables/fruits.
Collection will once again benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. CFB of NJ volunteers, Devils Fan Club volunteers and wives/girlfriends of Devils’ players will be at the PNC Bank and South Towers, as well as at the Lafayette Street, VIP, and Ford Lincoln-Mercury garage entrances to accept donations.
Every fan who makes a donation that evening will be eligible to win autographed Devils' memorabilia.
Included in the Jersey Hockey Fights Hunger initiative is Canstruction, a national event sponsored by the American Institute of Architects. The New Jersey exhibit will feature a competition among local architects, engineers, and students to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food.
The structures typically take eight to 12 weeks and thousands of cans of food to create. They will be built during an eight-hour period on Thursday, Nov. 11, and will be on display throughout Prudential Center’s main concourse during the Nov. 12 game.
Following the exhibits, the immense structures are dismantled and all of the canned food is donated to charity.
Last year’s program collected more than 40,000 pounds of food for CFB of NJ.
