Brandon Burlon

Newark, NJ – The New Jersey Devils today signed defenseman Brandon Burlon to an entry-level contract.  The announcement was made by Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.
 
Burlon, 21, joins the Devils organization after spending the past three seasons at the University of Michigan (CCHA). He finished third among Wolverines’ defensemen with a career-high 18 points, while setting career highs with five goals (tie) and 13 assists. As a junior, the 6-0, 190-lb., left-shooting rearguard was a member of Michigan’s CCHA regular-season championship team, and helped the school reach the NCAA Frozen Four.

He was named All-CCHA Honorable Mention, helped the school win the Great Lakes Invitational, and registered two assists in “The Big Chill at the Big House” vs. Michigan State. Among Burlon's teammates were Devils prospects Jonathon Merrill and David Wohlberg.
 
Burlon’s collegiate totals show 13 goals and 34 assists for 47 points and 66 penalty minutes in 116 contests.  As a sophomore, he was a member of Michigan’s CCHA Championship Team that reached the NCAA Quarterfinals. Born March 5, 1990 in Nobleton, Ont., he was named to the 2008-09 CCHA All-Rookie Team.  That season, the Wolverines won the Great Lakes Invitational, finished second in both the CCHA regular-season and playoff tournament, and participated in the NCAA Tournament. 

He was New Jersey’s second choice, and 52nd overall selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft after playing two seasons at St. Michael’s (OPJHL).
