“The entire New Jersey Devils organization is saddened by the loss of Les Widdifield,” said Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello. “Les was a caring, family man who devoted his life to his wife, children, grand-children and great grand-children. He was part of the Devils’ family for a long time, and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Twyla, and the entire Widdifield family.”
Widdifield was born August 21, 1925 in Watson, Sask. A long-time friend of former Devils’ General Manager Max McNab, he joined the organization as a scout in 1986-87. A member of the organization for all three Stanley Cup Championships, he proudly gave his championship rings to his grandsons.
