Zajac could return to practice in two weeks
"He has been released by the doctors, he is in town, he skated yesterday morning here, and also this morning, and will continue to do that for the next week and a half to two weeks," Lamoriello said. "If everything is on schedule as it has been, he'll start practicing with the team in two weeks. Everything to this point has been exactly the way the doctors predicted it would be. He feels good, but he's still certainly not there. It's going to take some conditioning, both off the ice and on the ice to get him where he can go into practice."
Zajac had played in a franchise-record 401 consecutive games before injuring his Achilles tendon during an offseason workout. He had surgery to repair it in August and has yet to play this season.
The Devils also announced today they have recalled Tim Sestito from Albany (AHL). Columbus visits Prudential Center tonight.
"He's here to play," said Lamoriello. "We're trying to see who the best fit is for certain lines and will continue to do that until we're comfortable. He's played well in Albany and so we'll take a look at him."
