NEW JERSEY DEVILS’ ‘MISSION CONTROL’ SELECTED AS FINALIST FOR PRWEEK
‘ARTS, ENTERTAINMENT & MEDIA CAMPAIGN OF THE YEAR’ AWARD

Newark, NJ — ‘Mission Control,’ the digital communications initiative launched this year by the New Jersey Devils (@NHLDevils), was selected as a finalist for the PRWeek ‘Arts, Entertainment & Media Campaign of the Year.’

“We recognize the importance of social media in promoting our brand in a crowded entertainment marketplace,” said Rich Krezwick, President Devils Arena Entertainment. “Being recognized for our ‘Mission Control’ program by PRWeek is a great testament to the hard work our staff put into make this a successful venture.”

A pro sports first, the Mission Control project features a Digital Command Center located inside the Prudential Center (@PruCenter), designed to more effectively manage, monitor, and measure the franchise’s online brand engagements.  The center is fueled in part by the Devils Generals (@DevilsGenerals), a team of two-dozen socially-savvy fans who utilize Twitter, Facebook and other online channels hosted by the team/arena to extend the organization’s reach.

Huffington Post praised the Devils and ‘Mission Control’, “The Devils, have become one of the leaders in the league (NHL) which probably does the digital space better than any sports property.” While ESPN announced, “No team has taken up social media like the New Jersey Devils,” the New York Times stated, “Devils Use Social Media as a Promotional Tool,” and USA Today said, “…an unprecedented step in connecting with fans.”

The PRWeek Awards are the highest honor in the public relations industry and a unique symbol of achievement and leadership.  Winners will be announced at the 2012 PRWeek Awards ceremony on March 1, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt in New York City.
