MSG earns 57 New York Emmy award noms
MSG, MSG+ and MSG.com combine for 67 total nominations
The New York Emmy Awards recognize television and advanced media programs that were produced for telecast in New York state and northern New Jersey, and aired between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011.

MSG Networks’ New York Emmy nominations covered 37 different categories, ranging from sports and entertainment programming, to editing, writing, directing and promotion. In the highly sought-after Live Sports Event: Program/Special and Live Sports Event: Series categories, MSG and MSG+ received five of the nine nomination spots: two for the 2010-11 New York Knicks game telecasts, including Friday Night Knicks, which was nominated three times; one for the 2010-11 New Jersey Devils game telecasts; and one each for the boxing programs, Battle of the Badges and Golden Gloves.
All four of MSG Network’s professional basketball and hockey team telecasts in the New York City area earned Emmy nominations: the Knicks with 12, the Rangers and Devils with four each, and the Islanders with two.
MSG Networks’ original programs garnered a total of 35 nominations in a variety of categories, including five nominations for The Game 365, MSG’s Vault and Summer of ‘86; four nominations for Knicks Poetry Slam; three nominations for MSG ProFiles; and a total of four nominations for the new programs 10 to One and Who Wore It Best?
In the On-Camera Talent categories, MSG Networks collected seven combined nominations: Al Trautwig, Stan Fischler and Ron Duguay for MSG, and Mike “Doc” Emrick, Howie Rose, and Steve Cangialosi, who was nominated twice, for MSG+. Trautwig was also nominated twice in the Writer: Sports category.
MSG’s second-screen initiative, MSGxtra.com, which is an extension of MSG.com and was launched in 2011, was nominated in the Interactive category.
Award winners will be announced on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the 55th annual New York Emmy Awards ceremony to be held at The Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
