Relive best of 2011-12 on MSG+ \'Summer Ice\'

New York, NY (August 9, 2012) – New Jersey Devils “Summer Ice” on MSG+ will look back at the best games from the Eastern Conference Champions’ 2011-12 season for four consecutive Saturdays starting August 11 at 8:00 p.m.

For each two-hour installment of Devils “Summer Ice,” MSG Networks’ Steve Cangialosi and Ken Daneyko will break down the featured MSG+ telecasted game and discuss its impact on the rest of the season. Below is a preview of the four weeks of Devils “Summer Ice.”

Saturday, August 11 – 8:00 p.m.

Stars at Devils (12/16/11): On the night New Jersey honored Scott Niedermayer, one of the best defensemen in NHL history, the Devils went on a scoring binge, collecting six goals from six different players in a 6-3 victory over the Stars for their third win in a row.

Daneyko: “Scott’s number going to the rafters is as well deserved as any hockey player. It’s a real honor for me to share that with him, along with Scott Stevens, and he was one of the best hockey players in the National Hockey League throughout his career.”

Saturday, August 18 – 8:00 p.m.

Rangers at Devils (1/31/12): In a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Devils topped the Rangers 4-3 in a shootout as David Clarkson scored the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation and Ilya Kovalchuk netted the only goal after a scoreless overtime.

Daneyko: “With Marty Brodeur in goal and the skilled guys the Devils have, they were unbelievable in the shootout all season long.”

Saturday, August 25 – 8:00 p.m.

Panthers at Devils: Game 6, Eastern Conference Quarterfinals (4/24/12): After squandering a 2-0 advantage, the Devils held off the charging Panthers in the third period and Travis Zajac scored an OT goal to give the Devils a 3-2 win and force a Game 7.

Daneyko: “That first round can be the most dangerous and this Florida Panthers team, as they say, had nothing to lose, and they were a lot better than most people expected.”

Saturday, September 1– 8:00 p.m.

Devils at Panthers: Game 7, Eastern Conference Quarterfinals (4/26/12): In one of the most thrilling playoff games in hockey history, the Devils needed two overtimes, as well as 43 saves from Brodeur – on the 20th anniversary of his first postseason appearance in goal for New Jersey – and two scores from rookie Adam Henrique, to put away the Panthers in the first round.

Daneyko: “Is there anything better than a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs? The Devils sure wanted to get the monkey off their back because they remembered what happened in Game 7 against the Carolina Hurricanes only a few years ago.”
