New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center hold their first annual DRESSING UP
Clothing drive for Newark residents held on Saturday, December 8th
The holidays will now be a bit brighter for several hundred Newark residents, as the New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center held their first annual DRESSING UP event, a clothing drive for Newark residents on Saturday, December 8th.
The Devils and Prudential Center held the event as part of their mission to help the community through their charitable foundation, “Devils Care.” Through promoting the health and wellness of the community they serve, the Prudential Center and the Devils are committed to assisting those in need.
The event was coordinated over the past several months through the dedication and hard work of dozens of Prudential Center personnel. 7,513 pieces of new and gently used clothing were donated from over 100 employees.
375 invitations were sent out by the Devils and Prudential Center to guests from Newark organizations including The Salvation Army, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the YMCA of Newark, the North Ward Center, and Newark Now, among others.
Guests were brought out onto the arena’s main floor where they were greeted by dozens of Prudential Center employees who volunteered to assist with the clothing drive. Participants were treated to Christmas music playing while they picked out items and an appearance by Devils mascot N.J. Devil. Partakers were also treated to free snacks and beverages following choosing from the dozens of tables and racks that were full of clothing, shoes, and accessories.
