Devils \'Summer Ice\' on MSG Plus starts July 4

MSG+ will showcase the best games from the Devils’ 2013 season with all-new episodes of “Summer Ice” presented by RAM every Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. between July 4 and August 29.

Taped in Asbury Park on the Jersey Shore, each two-hour installment of Devils “Summer Ice” will feature Devils legend Ken Daneyko and reporter Deb Placey as they look back at nine Devils wins that stood out over the course of the season.

Thursday, July 4 – 8:00 p.m.
Devils vs. Capitals (1/25) - In their first game against former assistant coach Adam Oates, the Devils overcame a Washington comeback after leading 2-0 as Ilya Kovalchuk scored 4:39 into overtime to defeat the Capitals 3-2 for their third win in a row to start the season.

Daneyko: “Kovalchuk doing what he does best and that’s scoring late in overtime to give the Devils another victory and remain perfect early in the season.”

Thursday, July 11 – 8:00 p.m.
Devils vs. Rangers (2/5) - In the first matchup of the season between the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals participants, the Devils’ David Clarkson tallied two goals and Adam Henrique added another, while Martin Brodeur stopped 24 of 25 shots, for a 3-1 win over their cross-river rival.

Daneyko: “Henrique got it going, picking right up where he left off against this team, and how about Clarkson’s start, scoring his 6th and 7th goals of the season to continue his torrid pace early on.”

Thursday, July 18 – 8:00 p.m.
Devils vs. Penguins (2/9) - 2012 first-round pick Stefan Matteau scored his first NHL goal to tie the game 1-1 in the second period, while Adam Henrique and Bobby Butler, who scored his first goal as a Devil, tallied power-play goals in a 2:12 span in the third to lift the Devils over the Penguins 3-1.

Daneyko: “Big victory for the Devils as they continue to play as a team and really shut down the high-flying Penguins.”

Thursday, July 25 – 8:00 p.m.
Devils vs. Flyers (2/15) - Down 3-1 after a first period dominated by the Flyers, the Devils scored two goals in the second and added two more in the third for a 5-3 win that featured a goal and three assists from Ilya Kovalchuk.

Daneyko: “Young Adam Larsson played terrific. I really expect a lot from him next year. It takes defensemen a little bit longer to come on, and he needs to understand that, but he’s really starting to come on and he made a real nice play on one of the goals in this game.”

Thursday, August 1 – 8:00 p.m.
Devils at Capitals (2/21) - Andrei Loktionov scored his first goal for the Devils to tie the game 2-2 midway through the third period and Ilya Kovalchuk knocked in a power-play goal with just under 8:30 to play as the Devils defeated the Capitals 3-2.

Daneyko: “The book on Andrei Loktionov was that he had a lot of skill and that he was gonna get an opportunity, which he didn’t get in Los Angeles because of the depth they had. He came to this team and did a lot of good things offensively, winning draws, and scores his first goal in this game so he looked really good early on and was a nice acquisition for the Devils.”

Thursday, August 8 – 8:00 p.m.
Devils vs. Sabres (3/7) - David Clarkson assisted on Patrik Elias’ game-tying goal with 1:06 to go in regulation and then scored the shootout winner as the Devils put an end to a six-game skid with a 3-2 victory.

Daneyko: “One of the bigger wins of the season for the Devils and Clarkson continued to lead the hockey club.”

Thursday, August 15 – 8:00 p.m.
Devils vs. Jets (3/10) - Johan Hedberg knocked down 23 shots and stopped all three Jets shootout attempts as the Devils prevailed 3-2.

Daneyko: “Hedberg was not going let the Devils lose this hockey game. They tied it up late in the game with a Patrik Elias goal, and then he was perfect in the shootout.”

Thursday, August 22 – 8:00 p.m.
Devils @ Hurricanes (3/21) - In his return to the ice following a month sidelined by injury, Martin Brodeur stopped 17 of 18 shots and recorded his NHL-record third career goal, to accompany Adam Henrique, Peter Harrold and Andrei Loktionov’s tallies, as the Devils won 4-1.

Daneyko: “Marty Brodeur gets a goal, the Devils get a win, and at the time it was important because they were flirting with the 8th spot and even the 7th spot.”

Thursday, August 29 – 8:00 p.m.
Devils vs. Panthers (4/20) - After an early two-goal deficit, the Devils responded with six unanswered scores and dominated the Panthers for the rest of the 6-2 win that included David Clarkson’s 14th goal of the season.

Daneyko: “A lot of guys contributing, and that’s what this Devils team has been built on. Kovalchuk comes back and surprise! He doesn’t even have a point in this game, but just his presence.”
