Devils sign forward Ryane Clowe
Clowe, 30, will enter his eighth National Hockey League season, after splitting 2012-13 between San Jose and the New York Rangers. He appeared in 40 games overall, recording three goals and 16 assists for 19 points and 40 penalty minutes.
The 6-2, 225-lb. forward was traded on April 2, 2013, after spending nine-plus seasons with the Sharks’ organization. He also saw action in two post-season contests, notching one assist.
Clowe has career totals of 104 goals and 175 assists for 279 points and 581 penalty minutes in 435 career regular-season NHL contests, while also seeing action in 70 playoff games. In 2010-11, he notched career highs with 24 goals, 38 assists (also 2009-10) and 62 points.
Born September 30, 1982, the native of St. John’s, Nfld. began his professional career in 2003-04 with Cleveland (AHL). He was San Jose’s fifth choice (6th round), and 175th overall selection in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He played three seasons of junior hockey with Rimouski and Montreal (QMJHL).
