Devils sign forward Rostislav Olesz
Olesz, 27, will enter his ninth year in North America, after spending the 2012-13 season with Rockford (AHL). He notched seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points and four penalty minutes in 14 games for the IceHogs. The 6-2, 215-lb. winger last played in the NHL in 2011-12, splitting the season between the Chicago Blackhawks and Rockford.
He was traded on June 25, 2011 after six seasons with the Panthers’ organization. Olesz has career totals of 57 goals and 75 assists for 132 points and 118 penalty minutes in 355 NHL regular-season contests. He posted a career-high 14 goals during the 2007-08 and 2009-10 seasons, as well as 30 points in 2006-07.
Born October 10, 1985 in Bilovec, Czech Rep., he won a Bronze Medal at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. He also participated in the 2007 and 2009 World Championships, and 2004 and 2005 World Junior tournament. Olesz was Florida’s first choice, and seventh overall selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
