The New Jersey Devils today signed free agent right wing Jaromir Jagr. The announcement was made by Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.

Jagr, 41, joins the Devils after splitting the 2012-13 NHL season with Dallas (34 games) and Boston (11 games). He totaled 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points and 22 penalty minutes in 45 regular-season games, and added ten assists and eight penalty minutes in 22 playoff contests en-route to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Born Feb. 15, 1972, he has 681 goals and 1,007 assists for 1,688 points and 959 penalty minutes in 1,391 career regular-season appearances for Pittsburgh, Washington, NY Rangers, Philadelphia, Dallas and Boston. A two-time Stanley Cup Champion with Pittsburgh in 1990-91 and 1991-92, he also has 78 goals and 121 assists for 199 points and 159 penalty minutes in 202 career playoff contests.

Entering his 20th National Hockey League season, Jagr ranks 34th all-time in games played, tenth in goals, 12th in assists and eighth in points. Among current NHL players, he ranks first in goals, assists and points, and second in games played. The native of Kladno, Czech Rep. was the recipient of the 1998-99 Hart Memorial Trophy as the player adjudged most valuable to his team.

He is a five-time winner of the Art Ross Trophy as the league’s scoring champion, and led the league in assists on three occasions. Jagr was named to the NHL’s First All-Star Team seven times, the 1996-97 Second All-Star Team and the 1990-91 All-Rookie Team, and has appeared in nine NHL All-Star Games. He was Pittsburgh’s first choice and fifth overall selection of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft.

Jagr represented the Czech Republic in four Winter Olympic Games, winning a Gold Medal in 1998 and a Bronze in 2006. He also represented his country at two World Cup tournaments, the 1991 Canada Cup, eight World Championships and the 1990 World Junior Championships. Jagr is one of only two Czech-born players (Jiri Slegr) to win an Olympic Gold Medal, World Championship Gold Medal and Stanley Cup.

He started this past season with HC Kladno (Czech Rep.), spent the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons with Avangard Omsk (KHL), the 2004-05 campaign with Rabat Kladno (Czech Rep.)/Omsk (Rus.), and 1994-95 with Kladno (Czech Rep.) and Bolzano (Italy).
