The Devils brought some holiday cheer to the pediatric wards of New Jersey on Monday when they hit the road to make their annual hospital visits.

The players headed out after practice, making stops at eight hospitals. In this season of giving, bringing a smile to someone in need can be the greatest gift.

"We've been doing this for many, many years, going to visit kids that are in the hospital at this time of year," Patrik Elias said. "It's a little bit of time in our lives that can make a big deal for them to cheer them up, break up their routine and maybe get some fans for the future, too."

Elias joined Steve Bernier, Martin Brodeur and Marek Zidlicky in visiting Saint Barnabas in Livingston.

"They told us they had released a lot of kids over the weekend, which is always a good thing," Elias said. "We still had quite a few kids there, some that were in good shape, some that were in worse shape. But it seemed like they were in good spirits. We gave them some Devils gear and tried to put a smile on their face – that's what it's all about."

The other hospitals visited were: Hackensack University Medical Center (Ryan Carter, Cam Janssen, Dainius Zubrus); Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick (Reid Boucher, Eric Gelinas, Jon Merrill); Rutgers Biomedical + Health Sciences/University Hospital in Newark (Stephen Gionta, Jaromir Jagr, Travis Zajac); St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson (Ryane Clowe, Mark Fayne, Andy Greene, Michael Ryder); Morristown Medical Center (Adam Henrique, Cory Schneider, Tim Sestito); Overlook Medical Center/Valerie Center in Summit (Andrei Loktionov, Bryce Salvador, Anton Volchenkov); and Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck (Damien Brunner, Jacob Josefson, Mattias Tedenby).
