Jagr sees chance for 'something special'
Jaromir Jagr sees all the makings of a Hollywood ending.
Five points out of the final wild card spot in the East with 10 games to go, the Devils would be one of the big stories of 2013-14 if they could find their way into a postseason berth.
"We have an opportunity to make a great story if we make it,” Jagr said Wednesday. “At least it’s exciting. That’s the way I look at it; something to remember, something special.”
Two more points will be on the line Thursday when the Devils close out their five-game homestand against Phoenix. New Jersey has won two of three since dropping the homestand opener to Boston.
Jagr grasps the task at hand.
"First of all, we did it to ourselves, because if we would have won more games early in the season when it was a little bit easier, we wouldn’t be in this situation,” Jagr, the Devils’ leading scorer, said. "We lost some games, we lost some points we shouldn’t [have]."
On the plus side, there would be something to be said for heading into the playoffs on a roll.
"I’d rather get in winning the last 10 games,” Jagr said. "But you have to get in first."
