Jagr assists in Czechs' 1-0 win over Norway
Tied for team points lead with 3g-3a-6pts in six games
One goal is all the Czech Republic needed to move closer to the quarterfinals at the IIHF World Championship in Minsk.
Vladimir Sobotka struck for the Czechs' lone tally, just 39 seconds into their 1-0 win over Norway on Sunday. Jaromir Jagr picked up the secondary assist, extending his point streak to four games and tying him for the team lead with six points (3g-3a) in six games.
Jagr, who's playing in his ninth world championship, registered five of the Czech Republic's 39 shots. Alexander Salak made 21 saves for the shutout.
The Czechs can lock up third place in Group A with a win in their preliminary round finale versus France on Tuesday.
Peter DeBoer and Team Canada took over top spot in Group A by knocking off previously undefeated Sweden, 3-2, in overtime on Sunday. Ryan Ellis' goal at 2:38 of the extra session lifted the Canadians to their fifth straight victory.
Canada wraps up prelim play Tuesday against Norway.
Damien Brunner and Switzerland close out their preliminary round against Latvia on Tuesday. Brunner is second among the Swiss with five points (2g-3a) in six games.
