2011-12 Scholarship Winners
Newark, NJ – The New Jersey Devils Alumni Association named four student-athletes as recipients of the 2012 scholarships for college-bound hockey players. The announcement was made by the association’s director, Bruce Driver.

Last year’s winners were from right to left: Adam Gottesman (Toms River High School North), Michael Hite (Northern Highlands Regional High School), James Morsch (West Morris Mendham High School), and Kevin Lopez (East Side High School) . Each recipient will receive a $2,500 scholarship to assist in their education at the college or university of their choice. The awards were presented at the NJSIAA scholarship luncheon in May 2012.
Winners were nominated by their athletic director or coach and complied with Scholarship Rules, which include the following criteria: through their most recent grading period, the applicant must have attained a high school cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 grading system) or equivalent grade if the student’s school uses a different grading system.
Additionally, the applicant must have shown a commitment to volunteer work and community service through continued participation in a variety of projects or community organizations. Community activities should reflect that the applicant is unselfishly “giving back” to society and that the applicant is motivated to serve. Each winner must be accepted for admission on a full-time matriculating basis to a two- or four-year academic program at an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
The alumni association was formed for the purposes of: bringing together former Devils’ players to develop enjoyable civic activities and charitable fund raisers; participating in worthwhile charity/community service programs; and developing means to help promote amateur hockey. This marks the eleventh year of the alumni association’s scholarship program. For a copy of the Official Rules and further information, please contact the Devils at 973-757-6200.
