Devils-Canadiens Preview

GAME: New Jersey Devils (33-19-11-1) at Montreal Canadiens (33-25-6-2).

TIME: Monday, 7:30 p.m. EST.

The Montreal Canadiens will look to extend their season-high winning streak to five games when they host the New Jersey Devils.

Mike Ribeiro scored at 3:38 of overtime on Saturday, giving Montreal a 1-0 win over Carolina and its longest winning streak since taking six in a row from March 28-April 9, 2002.

"It wasn't a good night on the power play - they're a team that presses a lot defensively, and we had a hard time controlling the puck and getting shots," Ribeiro said, referring to the Canadiens' 0-for-9 effort with the man advantage. "It could have been a different game, but we came back with a big win."

With their recent surge, the Canadiens have moved into seventh place in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of the New York Islanders and just four behind the sixth-place Devils. They have also rebounded nicely from a season-high four-game losing streak earlier this month.

Goalie Jose Theodore, who got his sixth shutout of the season on Saturday, has been a big part of Montreal's recent success, winning every game during its streak while allowing just five goals. Theodore's surge has come following a personal five-game losing streak in which he gave up 14 goals.

The Devils are coming off Saturday's 3-0 loss to Toronto - their second straight defeat following a three-game winning streak.

Defenseman Brian Rafalski suffered a bruise behind his right knee after he crashed into the net in the third period. He underwent a CT scan, and is listed as day-to-day.
