GAME: New Jersey Devils (5-5-0) at Boston Bruins (5-5-2).

TIME: Saturday, 7 p.m. EDT.

The New Jersey Devils and Boston Bruins will both be without their starting goaltenders when they meet at FleetCenter.

New Jersey backup goaltendender Scott Clemmensen - filling in for the injured Martin Broduer - gave the Devils a lift as he made 25 saves in Friday's 3-2 win over visiting Buffalo.

Brodeur injured his knee Wednesday in the Devils' 6-3 loss to Tampa Bay, but is not expected to miss an extended period of time.

Clemmensen made the most of the opportunity, and his teammates played a solid defensive game for the first two periods, limiting the Sabres to only 11 shots.

"They played great as a team in front of me," Clemmensen said. "They allowed me to get into the game on my own time."

Sergei Brylin tipped Bryan Rafalski's shot past Ryan Miller with 5:23 remaining, as the Devils pulled out the win after blowing a two-goal lead in the third period.

"We can't wait for Marty to come back," said Brylin, who scored his team-leading sixth goal. "We've got to win some hockey games. Scott played a great game for us and when Marty's not there, everybody feels they have to pick it up a little bit."

Boston had similar success as backup Hannu Toivonen made 36 saves in place of the injured Andrew Raycroft to lift the Bruins to a 2-1 victory over Toronto on Thursday, the Bruins' first Northeast Division win of the season.

"He was solid and made timely saves when we needed them," coach Mike Sullivan said. "If your goaltender is not one of your best players, it is very difficult to win in this league."

Boston, which had been 0-5-1 in the division, won for just the second time in seven games overall.

Toivonen - making his third NHL start - snapped the Bruins' six-game streak of allowing at least three goals.

"I am not going to say I am happy for him, but he played very well and deserved to win," Toronto goalie Mikael Tellqvist said.

Raycroft will be out a week with a strained hamstring. Jordan Sigalet was recalled from Providence of the AHL to back up Toivonen.
