Preview: Devils at Senators
New Jersey Devils

RADIO: Today's game will be broadcast on WWDJ 970 AM

newjerseydevils.com – After splitting two games in the Sunshine State, the Devils visit Ottawa for a matinee against Dany Heatley and the Senators.

New Jersey (1-1-0) will try for a win over the defending Eastern Conference champions today at Scotiabank Place. Game time is set for 3 p.m. (MSG, WWDJ 970 AM).

The Devils put one in the win column on Saturday, as John Madden recorded two goals and Kevin Weekes made 32 saves for a 4-1 victory over the Panthers in Sunrise, Fla.

Andy Greene added a power-play tally for his first of the season, and Mike Mottau scored the first goal of his NHL career.

"It feels good," Madden said. "It usually takes me a lot longer than that to get going."

It also marked the first NHL coaching victory for Brent Sutter, who was brought aboard in July.

"I don't get caught up in that as far as myself," said Sutter, the team's eighth different coach since the beginning of the 1997-98 season. "The main thing is I want these players to have success."

The Devils were eliminated from last season's conference semifinals by the Senators in five games, four of which were decided by one goal.

In 2006-07, New Jersey was 3-1-0 against Ottawa, which has won its first three games of the new season.

NJD NOTES
Madden's two points (2g) have him tied for the Devils' scoring lead with Zach Parise (2a). Eight Devils are tied for second with one point apiece... For Ottawa, Daniel Alfredsson (4g-1a-5pts) and Dany Heatley (3g-2a-5pts) are tied for the Senators scoring lead. Jason Spezza (4a) is second... The Devils are 3-for-12 (25%) with the man advantage, tying them for fifth-best among road teams... At home, the Sens' PP is just 2-for-14 (14.3%), and overall Ottawa is 2-for-18 (11.1%)... For the Devils, defenseman Colin White (puck to the eye area), right wing Jamie Langenbrunner (groin), and right wing Cam Janssen (separated shoulder) are sidelined.
