Preview: Devils at Penguins
New Jersey Devils

newjerseydevils.com – The Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins finished first and second, respectively, in the Atlantic Division last season, with each team compiling more than 100 points.

More than a month into 2007-08, both clubs are still trying to recapture that winning form.

The Devils, who have one win in their last four games, look to improve their 3-6-2 road record tonight in Pittsburgh (7:30 p.m., MSG, WFAN 660 AM), where the Penguins have dropped three in a row.

New Jersey's road winless streak was extended to five games with Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Islanders.

Miroslav Satan's power-play goal in the third period broke a 1-1 tie, as the Devils slipped to 2-4-2 against the Atlantic Division.

Dainius Zubrus scored his third goal in two games, but it wasn't enough for a Devils club that went without a single power-play opportunity in a regular season contest for the first time since 2004.

Martin Brodeur, who entered Saturday's game with 17 losses in 61 career starts versus the Islanders, stopped 20 shots but failed to record his 500th NHL victory.

With his next win, Brodeur will join Patrick Roy as the only goaltenders in league history to have reached the 500-win plateau. Roy owns the record for victories with 551.

Last year's Vezina Trophy winner with 48 wins and a 2.18 goals-against average, Brodeur has struggled against Pittsburgh this season, allowing nine goals in the teams' first two meetings. New Jersey won 5-4 at Pittsburgh on Oct. 17, but fell 5-0 at home Nov. 5.

In 58 games against the Penguins, Brodeur is 31-20-0 with four ties and a 2.72 GAA.

Next up, the Devils (6-8-2) return home to host the Rangers for the first time at Prudential Center on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

The next promotional night at Prudential Center is set for Friday, Nov. 30, against Montréal, when all fans in attendance will receive a Devils souvenir puck featuring the Prudential Center Inaugural Season commemorative logo, courtesy of Dale and Thomas Popcorn.
