NJD Preview: Devils at Blues
New Jersey Devils

The Devils look for their seventh road win in nine games tonight when they visit St. Louis to take on the Blues (8 p.m., VERSUS, WFAN 660 AM).

New Jersey (20-11-3) ended a 159:18 scoreless stretch on Saturday, defeating the New York Rangers 4-2. Brian Rolston's power-play goal 2:54 into the game snapped the streak which began after he notched a second-period goal in a 3-2 shootout win over Philadelphia on Dec. 21.

"We didn't score for two games, but it's not like we didn't have chances," said Patrik Elias, who has two goals and six assists in his last four games in St. Louis. "Even though we played yesterday (a 1-0 loss to Pittsburgh), we wanted to come out strong and get as many shots as possible. Obviously, it helps when you score right away."

The Devils have scored first in their last three games in St. Louis - most recently a 5-3 victory on Jan. 17, 2006 - and have averaged 4.67 goals in these victories.

On Saturday, New Jersey outshot the Rangers 17-7 in the opening 20 minutes, and took a 2-0 lead on Elias' short-handed goal. Elias, who drew an assist on Travis Zajac's second-period tally, has 12 goals and 17 assists as the Devils have gone 13-4-1 since Nov. 15.

Zajac added two assists while Zach Parise notched his 19th goal and 23rd assist - both team-highs. Parise, though, is scoreless in two career games versus the Blues.

"We played well right from the start," Scott Clemmensen said after stopping 31 shots against New York. "We felt like we played well (this week) and had nothing to really show for it. Tonight was just what we needed, coming to play our rival in their building."

Since Martin Brodeur suffered a season-ending injury to his left elbow on Nov. 1, Clemmensen is 12-5-1 with a 2.15 GAA. He's never started against the Blues.

St. Louis (14-19-3), which wraps up a three-game homestand, is coming off a 4-3 loss to Anaheim on Sunday.

Following a 3-2 shootout victory over league-leading San Jose the previous night, the Blues led the Ducks 3-2 in the third on Sunday when Brad Boyes' notched his team-leading 17th goal, a power-play tally.

St. Louis, however, gave up the lead just 37 seconds later on Steve Montador's shot from the blue line. Chris Mason then allowed Bobby Ryan to score with the man advantage with 7:11 to play.

Playing with Boston, Boyes had a goal and two assists in his last game against New Jersey - a 5-3 victory on Dec. 14, 2006.

St. Louis' last home win over New Jersey was 4-3 on Jan. 25, 2001.
