Devils seek 10-0 road mark tonight in Philadelphia

DEVILS (14-4-0) at FLYERS (10-5-1)

Last 10 -- Devils 9-1-0; Flyers 7-3-0.

Season series -- This is the second of six meetings between the teams this season. The Flyers won the first time they met, 5-2, on Oct. 3 at the Prudential Center. Philadelphia defenseman Matt Carle had a goal and an assist, and Chris Pronger and James van Riemsdyk each had a pair of assists.

Big story -- Can the Devils make history Monday night in Philadelphia? With nine straight road wins to start the season, New Jersey can tie for the longest road win streak to start a season in League history.

Team scope:

Devils -- The hottest team in the League, the Devils have won eight in a row to move to the top of the Eastern Conference. And they're doing it with a surprising amount of offense. The nine goals they've scored in their last two games have come from eight different players. Zach Parise leads the team with 10 goals, but 14 different players have at least one.

Flyers -- It may be early in the season, but the Flyers are looking at Monday's game as a huge test for them. They trail the Devils by seven points in the division, and facing a five-game road trip that includes three on the west coast, they're taking this one very seriously.

"It will be a good test," Flyers coach John Stevens told reporters. "Jersey is playing extremely well. They're probably the most patient team in the League. Defensively, they will wait you out to the 60th minute, if they have to, to beat you. … We're going to have to show some determination and patience in our own end here."

Who's hot -- Parise has goals in four straight games, and has had at least 2 points in three of his last four games. Goalie Martin Brodeur, who now leads the League with 12 wins, has allowed two or fewer goals in six straight. Pronger has points in six straight games. In that span he has 2 goals, 9 points, a plus-9 rating and just six penalty minutes.

Injury report -- The latest additions to the Devils' laundry-list of injuries were checking forward Rob Niedermayer (upper body) and Dean McAmmond (illness), both of whom are on IR. van Riemsdyk, who sat out Saturday's game against Buffalo with the flu, should play Monday.

Stat pack -- Philadelphia may be an intimidating place to play, but no one's told
Brodeur that. The future Hall of Famer has 43 wins against the Flyers, the most against any team.

Puck drop -- Not only are the Devils close to history with their road win streak, Brodeur is one shutout away from tying Terry Sawchuk's all-time mark of 103. Of Brodeur's 102 shutouts, nine have come against the Flyers, the second-most against any team.
