newjerseydevils.com – Thanks to a pair of key power play goals on Sunday, the Devils now find themselves one point out of the Atlantic Division's top spot.

Jamie Langenbrunner's power play strike tied the Ottawa Senators late in regulation, and Brian Rolston picked up the power play winner in overtime as the Devils rallied for a 4-3 decision at Prudential Center.

Dainius Zubrus scored twice to snap an 11-game goal drought, and Scott Clemmensen made 17 saves for his 15th win.

Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta each recorded two assists, as did Johnny Oduya, who set up the tying and winning goals. Elias took over the club's assist lead with 26, and notched career points 670 and 671 to move within 30 of John MacLean's franchise record.

Langenbrunner knotted the contest at 3 with 3:40 remaining in the third, blasting his seventh of the season through Ottawa goaltender Alex Auld from the top of the right circle.

Ottawa's Chris Phillips was whistled for holding 19 seconds into overtime, and the Devils cashed in. Auld got a piece of Rolston's blueline slapper, but couldn't prevent it from rolling over the line to seal New Jersey's victory 1:43 into the extra session.

The Devils came up empty in their first three power play chances Sunday, but wound up with two goals on the man advantage for the first time since scoring three against Ottawa on Dec. 19.

"We had some power plays and we weren't very good on it," head coach Brent Sutter said. "All of a sudden, in the last couple we had a change on the power play and it was able to win us a hockey game. It got us two goals."

Rolston's sixth goal of the season was his fifth in the last 10 games. The veteran forward is third on the club with three power play goals.

"All in all it's a good win for us," Rolston said. "We have a lot of veteran hockey players in here and sometimes it happens like that. We had guys step up at the end of the game. We have to play better hockey, no question, but two points is monumental."

The Devils (23-12-3) swept their two-game homestand with their fourth win in five games, and moved into a tie with the New York Rangers for second place in the division.

New Jersey has two games in hand on the Rangers and one on first-place Philadelphia. Jersey's Team heads to Carolina Tuesday and plays nine of its next 12 on the road.

The Senators suffered their fifth loss in the first six games of an eight-game road trip while the 2009 World Junior Championships are being played in Ottawa.

Nick Foligno gave Ottawa an early 1-0 lead on the power play following Zubrus' hooking minor 15 seconds into the contest. Zubrus would even the score in the final minute of the first period.

Antoine Vermette passed from the right circle to Foligno at the right side of the net, and Foligno spun his sixth of the season through Clemmensen's pads at 2:10. The Devils gave up the first goal for only the second time in their last five games.

But as time ticked down in the first, Elias flipped into the middle of Ottawa territory. Zubrus touched a pass back to Gionta, who was stopped from the left circle before Zubrus tapped home the rebound for his ninth of the season with 40.5 seconds left.

With his ninth and 10th goals of the season, Zubrus scored for the first time in 12 games. He has potted four goals in the 18 games since he burned Tampa four times on Nov. 23.

Ottawa struck for its second power play goal of the contest in the second period to take a 2-1 lead, but Zubrus helped to fuel another Devil rally.

Brendan Bell, who was in the box when Langenbrunner tied it, got his second of the season from the bottom of the right circle at 3:50. Bell put home Spezza's centering feed after it pinballed off Bryce Salvador and Clemmensen's pad.

The Zubrus line responded midway through the second. Gionta put a shot through the slot from the left corner, and Elias controlled at the bottom of the right circle before hitting Zubrus on the doorstep for the tip-in at 11:15.

Chris Kelly broke the 2-2 tie to put the Senators ahead 7:14 into the third. Vermette centered from behind the net, and Kelly took the pass on his backhand before wristing it by Clemmensen's blocker to put Ottawa ahead.

Two of Rolston's six goals have been game-winners. He had eight GWG last season... "Not our best game, but we found a way to win," said Zach Parise, who nearly clinched it 35 seconds into overtime on a 2-on-1 with Elias. "It feels good right now, and we're tied with the Rangers." Parise redirected Elias' pass wide of the left post... Colin White (upper body) missed his fourth game... Sheldon Brookbank was a healthy scratch... Devils improved to 5-1 in overtime. They have scored four goals in each of their last four wins.
