Devils open three-game California trip in Anaheim
New Jersey Devils vs. Anaheim Ducks

DEVILS (7-8-5) at DUCKS (15-6-2)

TV: MSG PLUS
RADIO: WFAN 660 AM & 101.9 FM

Last 10: New Jersey 6-3-1; Anaheim 5-3-2

Season series: This is the first of two meetings and first matchup since Feb. 17, 2012 when Patrik Elias scored in the third round of a shootout and Martin Brodeur made 36 saves to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 3-2 win. The next meeting is Dec. 20 at Prudential Center.

Big story: After connecting for a pair of goals in a win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, Jaromir Jagr boosted his career totals to 688 goals and 1,704 points. He now trails Mario Lemieux (690 goals, 1,723 points) by two goals for ninth place on the all-time NHL list and 19 points for seventh place. The two-goal performance was the first multiple-goal game for Jagr since March 7 at Los Angeles.

"I work too hard to get tired," Jagr said. "My practices are harder than the games, so I shouldn't get tired during the game. Once my practices are going to be not hard, probably I'm going to get tired during the games. You've got to stay healthy. That's the key. When you're healthy, you can practice hard."

Team Scope:

Devils: New Jersey, which begins a three-game road trip through California, has points in eight of its past 11 games (6-3-2, 14 points). Brodeur made 27 saves in a 4-1 victory against the Penguins to extend his personal winning streak to four games. The 41-year-old is 6-1-0 with two shutouts, a 1.15 goals-against average and .952 save-percentage since Oct. 26. Brodeur has won six of his past seven starts, allowing just five goals on 138 shots in the past six games.

"We're looking to try to get to .500 and go from there, go forward," Brodeur said. "We're not there yet. We had a tough start, but now I think the last five, six games, it's been really good. We've been in every game and scoring a few more goals and getting some wins because of that."

Ducks: The Pacific Division-leading Ducks earned just one point during a four-game East Coast road trip that concluded on Monday with a 3-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Anaheim totaled just six goals in four games during a swing through Florida, Tampa Bay, Carolina and Pittsburgh. A 3-2 shootout loss to the Hurricanes on Friday provided the only point.

Viktor Fasth made 24 saves against the Penguins, but allowed three goals in the third period. Ryan Getzlaf scored his 11th goal of the season. The Ducks are the only NHL club with a perfect home record this season (8-0-0).

"I'm not seeing any secondary scoring from anybody," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "When you don't have four lines contributing scoring it's tough to win. I don't care how good the guys are, it's tough to win."

Forward Matt Beleskey returned to the lineup after missing 19 games with an upper-body injury.

Who's hot: Devils defenseman Andy Greene has one goal and four points in the past five games. … Getzlaf is on a four-game point streak during which he's produced five goals and eight points.

Injury report: New Jersey is without defensemen Bryce Salvador (fractured foot), Anton Volchenkov (lower body) as well as forward Ryane Clowe (head). D Jon Merrill was assigned to Albany (AHL) on Monday. … Center Saku Koivu (concussion) is questionable for the Ducks, though he has resumed skating. Right wing Jakob Silfverberg (broken hand) remains on injured reserve.
