Islanders 2, Devils 1 (FINAL)
New Jersey Devils 1, New York Islanders 2 (Nov. 10) – Martin Brodeur's quest for win No. 500 will have to wait at least one more game.

The Devils got their third goal in two games from a resurgent Dainius Zubrus, but fell, 2-1, to the Islanders Saturday night at Nassau Coliseum.

Miroslav Satan's 5-on-3 power-play goal at 6:25 of the third broke a 1-1 tie and sent New York to its fourth straight win.

Brodeur (5-8-1) made 20 saves in his eighth straight start, and lost for just the 18th time in 62 career starts against the Islanders.

Following Sheldon Brookbank's crosschecking penalty at 5:13 of the third period, the Devils' bench was assessed an additional minor for unsportsmanlike conduct, giving the Islanders a two-man advantage for two minutes.

Set up just to Brodeur's left, Satan buried a Trent Hunter pass for what held up as his third game-winning goal in as many games.

The Islanders led 1-0 after two periods, but Dainius Zubrus knotted things up at the 1:10 mark of the third with his third of the season.

Rick DiPietro's clearing attempt along the right-side boards was picked off by Devils' defenseman Karel Rachunek, who put a quick shot on net from the top of the right circle.

After DiPietro made the initial save, Zubrus was at the top of the crease to swat a pinballing puck into the net for his third of the season.

Josef Vasicek opened the scoring with 2:47 left in the first period, poking home the rebound of a Chris Campoli shot through the left pad of Brodeur for a 1-0 Islanders' lead.

It marked the ninth time this season that the Devils have allowed the opposition to score first. The club is now 1-7-1 in those contests.

The Devils' (6-8-2) upcoming schedule includes a stop in Pittsburgh on Monday, Nov. 12, to battle the Penguins (7:30 p.m., MSG, WFAN 660 AM). The club returns home to host the Rangers for the first time at Prudential Center on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

The next promotional night at Prudential Center is set for Friday, Nov. 30, against Montréal, when all fans in attendance will receive a Devils souvenir puck featuring the Prudential Center Inaugural Season commemorative logo, courtesy of Dale and Thomas Popcorn.

The Devils went without a power play in a regular season game for the first time since March 1, 2004 in Montréal, also a 2-1 loss... Karel Rachunek, who returned to the Devils' lineup on Thursday after missing four games with a sore groin, now has assists in two straight contests to go with a plus-3 rating.
