NEWARK, N.J. -- The Boston Bruins received at least one point from 11 players Tuesday in a 4-2 victory against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center.
The win extended Boston's winning streak to 10 games, the longest such streak for the team since a 10-game stretch from Nov. 1-23, 2011. The Bruins (47-17-5), who lead the Eastern Conference with 99 points, have outscored the opposition 41-15, allowing two or fewer goals in nine of the games.
The Bruins got a goal each from Patrice Bergeron, Marchand, Jarome Iginla and Chris Kelly. Marchand's shorthanded goal snapped a 1-1 tie early in the second period and appeared to deflate any momentum the Devils might have had.
Bruins goalie Chad Johnson, 9-0-1 in his past 10 starts, made 22 saves in his 15th win in 22 games.
The Devils made it 4-2 in the third when Zajac ripped a shot into the top left corner of the cage past Johnson off a wrist shot from the right circle at 9:13. Kelly had given the Bruins a 4-1 lead 2:02 earlier when he converted a pass from Carl Soderberg off a snap shot in the slot.
Devils coach Peter DeBoer pulled Brodeur with a little more than two minutes left.
The loss was the third straight for the Devils (29-27-13), who will play the second of a five-game homestand Thursday against the Minnesota Wild. The game will mark the return of forward Zach Parise to New Jersey for the first time since he signed a 13-year contract with the Wild on July 4, 2012.
The Devils, outside a Stanley Cup Playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, play nine of their remaining 13 games at Prudential Center. The Bruins trail the St. Louis Blues by two points in the race for the Presidents' Trophy.
Boston continues its three-game trip Friday against the Colorado Avalanche and Saturday against the Phoenix Coyotes.
After yielding a power-play goal for the first time in nine games, to Elias off a shot from the top of the right circle off a 5-on-3 early 29 seconds into the second period, the Bruins restored their lead at 1:23.
Marchand scored his fifth shorthanded goal of the season off a shot in the crease after collecting a pass from Bergeron. Iginla scored his team-leading 26th of the season 59 seconds later after taking a lead pass from David Krejci in stride and ripping a wrist shot from the right faceoff dot that deflected off Brodeur's pad and over the goal line for a 3-1 lead.
Iginla's goal was the 556th of his NHL career, tying Bruins legend Johnny Bucyk for 25th on the all-time list.
The Bruins dominated the first period, outshooting the Devils 15-5.
Bergeron became the fourth player to score at least 20 goals this season for the Bruins when he controlled a pass from Reilly Smith low in the left circle and pushed a backhander through the legs of Brodeur at 14:33.
In an effort to ignite his team, Devils left wing Ryane Clowe dropped the gloves with Bruins forward Milan Lucic 24 seconds later.
Brodeur was kept busy throughout during his sixth start in the past nine games. He denied three attempts by Lucic, including a left pad save off breakaway five minutes into the game.
